Since, I’m a volunteer for the Wisconsin German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue, I take in Pointers from the rescue until they are adopted by a family. Reggie, who is a 1 year old German Shorthaired Pointer came to live with me and Remington, my 6 year old Pointer about 2 months ago.

Today, Reggie and I took a trip to Genoa City, WI., a small town I’ve never been to until today. A family who lives in Genoa City submitted an adoption application for one of the Recue dogs, and since I happen to live closest to the family, I was asked by the rescue to meet with them to check to do a home visit.

So, Reg and I took a road trip, after I sprayed him with his doggy cologne, and brushed his pearly whites, and met with the nice family in Genoa City. As we drove through farm land, and tiny rural roads, there in the middle of nowhere, is this very nice subdivision, which is an actual community and grade school in the middle of nowhere. And, they even have a beautiful area of forest planned for a future Dog Park!

I didn’t know what to expect with Reggie’s behavior. I’ve been working on his basic commands, but sometimes, he is too busy sniffing to listen. Well, thankfully Reg was on his best behavior, and shocked me. At home, with Remington, they’re rough, good ole boys wrestling each other.

I met the picture perfect family including two perfect little children, a barbie doll for a mom, and roly poly female pug. Oh, there is a dad, but he was busy at work, so he couldn’t make it home in time to meet me and Reg.

As I got Reg out of the truck to meet the family and their little pug, he jumped off the backseat and pranced like a show dog! Reg was the star of the show, and he knew it. The little kids were all smiles, and the pug, being a typical female, just gave him attitude as he sniffed her butt while she turned and walked away.

So, Reg, the kids, and Miss Pug played in the fenced in backyard, which is perfect for a dog. Reg bowed down to Miss pug, literally all the way down to the ground on her level with his come and play with me! She gave him no action. Her owner told me she runs the house, which was no surprise based on her “I’m the Diva” of this house attitude. Reg displayed his athletic talents by jumping and diving gracefully for the stick that the kids threw his way. As Reg caught it, he held his head high, and ran in hopes of the kids chasing behind.

The cutest thing Reg did to all of the family including the pug, is wiggly his goofy tail, and give each of them a little kiss on their face. The pug yes, bulged right out of her diva head, and she just walked on. Unfortunately, the family told me they are interested in three other dogs in the rescue, and also thought Reg was adorable.

Well, Reg, hopefully soon will find the perfect family for you to adopt.
